Artifact 8: Classifying Reactions
Students were taught the difference between 5 key chemical reactions in 3 different ways:
1. In-class lecture using PowerPoint slides
2. In-class group work on determining which reaction was which
3. An extended homework assignment in which they had to create a visual demonstrating the 5 different types of reactions
Artifact 8.1: Item Analysis
Students took a quiz and I did an Item Analysis on the questions on their quiz related to classifying chemical reactions. These results are in this portion of the artifact.
Artifact 8.2: Student Survey
After the quiz, I had students answer the following question: "To learn about the differnt types of reactions, we did 3 things: I lectured on it in class, you did problems in groups on classifying reactions, and you did the extended HW. Which way helped you to learn the best? Explain your answer." The results of the survey are located in this portion of the artifact.
