2. “The video was a little easier for me to understand because it was straight forward and showed examples and then sum everything up.” 3. “I’m not really sure. I like the VSPER video though.” |
Of the 15 students surveyed, three of them said that the video helped them to learn the material most. This seems to be mostly because they can watch it over and over again for one student, while as These students would seem to be mostly visual learners, and seem to like having the video at their disposal. |
Students who chose the lecture1. “In class lecture. Due to the fact that I learn better face to face”
2. “The in class lecture helped me learn the VSEPR theory better, because it helps me grab the concept and be able to get help or ask questions if I get confused.” 3. “I think the class lecture was helpful because I learn better in class” 4. “In-class lecture cause I heard it everyday” |
Out of the 15 students surveyed, 4 people chose the lecture, which seemed to be mostly related to learning best directly from the teacher. |
Students who chose the lab1. "I thought the lab helped me the most from the rest. This is because I had to gather the material also the building blocks helped me understand.”
2. “The lab because we got to see it infront of us and think about it.” 3. “The lab because I did the work and practice makes perfect.” 4. “The lab helped me learn the theory the best because we actually got to test out combinations and it was hands-on.” 5. “The lab we did have let me to get more knowledge.” 6. “The lab because we actually worked on it and spent more time on it.” 7. “The lab helped more because we built the model ourselves and saw what the actual model was like.” 8. “The lab helped a lot to understand VSEPR theory because it was hands on and we could see patterns ourselves to determine what the molecular compounds were” |
Out of the 15 students surveyed, 8 students chose the lab mostly because they liked that it was hands on and that they got to work with partners. This supports that they like the kinesthetic and interpersonal aspects of it. However this also supports that repetition helps students--the majority of the class chose this as their preferred method of learning which suggests that the repetition of the content material helps them to learn better. |
